The Names and Places of Dear Mister Ward

I am concentrating my research on the letters that have both a name and place attached.  It would be even more difficult to identify people based just on their names.  I can not vouch for the spelling of the names or places.  To the best of my knowledge my grandma was transcribing letters which had been mostly handwritten.  The folks who wrote them had varying levels of proficiency in English and often wrote phonetically.

I will be detailing my research findings and methods in future posts but for now if you recognize any of the names, places or have any feedback you can reach me through the contact page or the Dear Mister Ward Facebook Page.

This last one is a little complicated.  My grandma scratched out the name of the woman who wrote the letter so I don’t know if it’s accurate.  However the woman who wrote it also included the name of her husband and place where she was going to live with him.  So I’ll be focusing on that more than her name.

I really appreciate any support of this project.  I’ve so far avoided approaching traditional publishers because I want to make sure I maintain creative control of whatever comes of Dear Mister Ward.

However that means that I am responsible for all printing costs and have been holding back on my marketing efforts until I can afford to print more copies.

Every bit of support goes to helping me continue the project and getting these letters to more people, including hopefully relatives of those who wrote them.

I plan on offering some rewards for levels of support eventually but it may be awhile.

Just so you know the buttons will take you to a different website.  This is the same credit card processor I use in the store, it’s just easier to not put it in the storefront.

Thanks,

Evan
